How Long Does Company Registration in Moldova Take?
Most companies are registered within 3–5 business days end-to-end — from first consultation to certificate in hand. The ASP processes a standard LLC in 1–3 working days once a complete package is submitted. Same-day registration is possible for an additional state fee. We prepare everything in parallel so nothing waits on nothing.
What is the Difference Between an LLC and a JSC in Moldova?
For most companies starting a business in Moldova, the LLC is the right structure — minimum 1 MDL share capital, up to 50 shareholders, lean governance, fast setup. A JSC is for larger enterprises that need to issue shares: higher minimum capital, formal governance obligations, mandatory audit. If you're not sure which fits, that's what the first consultation is for.
Do I Need to Register for VAT When I Start a Business in Moldova?
VAT registration is not required at the point of company registration. The mandatory threshold as of 2026 is MDL 1.5 million in annual turnover. Voluntary early registration is worth considering if you're working B2B with VAT-registered clients — it affects your pricing and how counterparties perceive you. What do I Need to do After Registration to Actually Start Operating?
Registration is the starting line, not the finish. Once your certificate is issued, you need a corporate bank account, Personal Data Operator registration (mandatory if you process any client or employee data), accounting set up from month one, and a VAT decision. If you're hiring, labour contracts and payroll come next. The same BULR team that registered your company handles all of it — no re-briefing, no handoffs, no gaps.
Does it Matter Which Region of Moldova I Register My Company in?
For most activities, no. An LLC registered in Chișinău operates freely across the entire country. The exception is the Free Economic Zones — FEZ tax benefits require registration within a specific zone and compliance with residency criteria. For standard domestic operations, retail, services, construction, agriculture, your registered address is an administrative detail, not a strategic one.
